About Us
Building strong pathways into the primary industries
HATA (Horticulture and Agriculture Teachers Association) is the professional subject association for Agricultural and Horticultural Science teachers across New Zealand. It provides a national network for teachers to share practice, access professional learning and champion the teaching of agri-science in secondary schools.
Sow the Seed is an educational advisory programme supporting the delivery of Agricultural and Horticultural Science nationwide. Funded through the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) and the Sustainable Food and Fibre Futures initiative, the programme works alongside HATA to develop resources, provide professional learning and strengthen support for educators.
Agribusiness in Schools is a national programme developed in partnership with the Ministry of Education and industry business partners. Offered at NCEA Levels 2 and 3, it gives students an in-depth understanding of the industries behind our food and fibre, exploring business, science, technology and innovation alongside the diverse study and career pathways across the primary industries.
